Has anyone encountered this problem? Regardless of which document library you go into, if we attempt to open any file type (i.e., xls, doc, jpg, etc), we get a run-time error and a prompt to open the Visual Studio debugger. Once we click on the 'No' button to decline opening the debugger, IE closes, and therefore we have to open another browser and navigate to the SharePoint site all over again. I do not believe this is caused by any sort of permissions setup. We can successfully upload and download files to any document library. The problem occurs when you attempt to edit the file itself, or to create the default file type within any given library. That's when it crashes.

Could it be a firewall issue? Or possibly try adding the site to the intranet trusted sites.

I had this problem last year with my Sharepoint 2V site and my Office files. I tried upgrading and reinstalling Office and IE but nothing seem to work. When I installed SharePoint SP 2 it cleared up. It seems odd because my system was the only one having the problem. I could log on to another system and I was fine.
