Title (linked to item with edit menu)

Does anyone know how to change other columns within a list to "link to item with edit menu"?

I know that the Title is by default the column but I don't even want to use that column in my custom list.

I believe you can rename that column to something else.

You can rename the field but unless you want a single line text field there's no point. Is there any way to change the Title field type?

You can't change the Title field type.
