MOSS 2007 Error

I have installed sharepoint 3.0 on a Windows 2003 Server-Standard Edition with ASP.Net 2.0 & IIS 6. I already had sql Server 2000 installed. When I run the Sharepoint products & technologies configuration wizard I get the following error:

Failed to start the database service MSSQL$Microsoft##SSEE. Repair this product by selecting from the ADD/Remove Programs. Well it is NOT listed in the Add/remove programs, only SQL Server 2000. Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem? Thanks in advance.

Do you have the latest service packs installed for SQL2000?

I believe if you put the SQL CD in it will ask if you want to remove or repair. I'd try to repair before a complete reinstall.
