I'm trying to install WSS 3.0 on a system running Server 2k3 standard and the install hangs from the beginning. I'm using the advanced option, because I want to store the catalogs on an external db.
I've tried twice, and the same thing happened both times.
Any ideas?

Please post some more information, its kind of hard to help you with as little info as you have posted.
I can tell you that if there is an existing Sharepoint WSS version 2 on the server you can choose to upgrade or install wss 3 side by side. If you have Windows Server 2003 you should upgrade, if you have SBS 2003 you should (must) install side by side.
