I have a test server that we are installing Sharepoint. It's Windows 2003 server standard with SP1, installed components are: AD, terminal services and SQL 2000 (with SP3a).
The installation of sharepoint went perfectly. No issues at all. I set everything up to the point where it tells me to create (or restore) a sharepoint portal. I tried creating a portal but the screen keeps bouncing back with an error that states:
"One or more fields contain invalid information."
Its the screen where it prompts me to enter the Site Name, Site URL, and Site Owner.
i've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it but that didnt help. I'm stumped. What's the issue here?

It sounds like you aren't entering in the data that is required by the form; are you using any symbols in any of the fields that it asks you to type data into?
