Hello All,
I am very new to WSS 2.0 that my organization is using. They want a site built in WSS 2.0 and they want the readers of this site to pretty much just view content on the site.
But, WSS 2.0 displays this drop down menu at the title bar of each web part with at least a help link. How can i disable this Drop down for each web part like Announcements, Links etc...?
Also, when i actually click on the Links or Contacts or Events Web part title on the title bar, it takes us to the AllItems.aspx page for that web part.
But as a Reader, the suer still sees the New Item, Edit Item etc.. menu bar at the top of this web part section.
When they actually try and change or add anything, it teels them that they do not have access to it. Is there a way for reader site group to not even see thsoe links on these web part AllItems.aspx page?
Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

WSS v2.0 is not user specific so if a user trys to do an action they don't have access too; WSS will ask them for a username and password. What you want to accomplish is not possible without changing the underlying code of WSS v2.0. Note: This functionality is available in WSS v3.0.

Hi, Windows SharePoint Services capabilities provide the foundation for a smart workplace—whether you are an IT administrator looking for an all-in-one solution for managing effective collaboration and communication organization-wide, or whether you are a team member looking for a fast, robust way to share information with others and collaborate effectively on team projects.
Thanks.
