I am trying to use the alert me option for WSS 3.0. The WSS 3.0 is installed in a virtual server, and it inherits users and groups from the Active directory of the mail server. When I finish configuring the "alert me" option and press the ok button. Then the following messege appairs:
"This virtual server is not configured to send e-mail. For assistance, contact your server administrator."
Anyone knows how to solve it?

BTW, I am having huge problem while trying to remove any alert. I logged in as administrator and assigned alert to a user. Now I want to remove it. Then, these things happen.
1. When I log in as that user, and want to remove it, then the messege comes, "Error: access denied, u dont have enough permission...."
2. When I log in as administrator, then I dont see any alert.
I really need to remove the alert. Plz help
