Microsoft Office mixed versions issue...

Hello!!! need help on Office 2003/2007 issue with SharePoint.
We have a mixed versions of Office 2003/2007. The problem is when a document is edited from the SharePoint (2007) document library it is failing to load in Word/Excel.
The desktop has office 2003 and also Visio of 2007. This created Office 11 and Office12 directories in the program file structure and do not know how to solve this problem.

For users to view Office 2003 files in a 2007 format they need the Microsoft File Converter and File Viewers.
