Summary:
The Sharepoint Developer implements web-based solutions and creates/maintains the organizational Portals for both internal functions and external customer partners. The Sharepoint Developer will bring skills to the table for end-to-end application development, including knowledge of databases, application integration and how to provide the best experience for users running applications in a Sharepoint environment. The Sharepoint Developer also has a familiarity with the end-to-end software development process, and has the flexibility to work in software projects that contain either a high level of rigor or the need to “fast-path” through the process without losing sight of quality or milestone dates.
The ideal candidate will be able to communicate with business and IT representatives at all levels to derive functional requirements, translate them into design specifications, and implement quality, well tested solutions. The ideal candidate will also enjoy working in a small but growing IT organization, where outstanding work habits and quality product will be recognized by senior management.
Key Responsibilities:
• Responsible for implementing, testing and maintaining web-based applications that are driven off the Sharepoint site
• Responsible for working with business analysts and developers to determine requirements and design for both functional and data requirements for database-driven applications as well as Sharepoint websites (including look/feel, workflow, usability, etc)
• Show due diligence in all application development by well-documenting code and test scripts and avoiding “on the fly” testing and deployment
• Responsible for the organizational Sharepoint portal, in terms of content, workflow, and ensuring the look and feel meet organizational standards.
• Responsible for working alongside Sharepoint administrators to ensure the organizational portal maintains service levels for availability and performance.
• Responsible for implementing, testing and maintaining the Sharepoint-based website
• Regularly report status, issues and risks to management.
• Work with user groups to create test scripts and perform User Acceptance tests.
Required Skills & Experience:
• 1-3 years experience with .NET based web solutions (such as C#, ASP.NET, VB.NET, and AJAX)
• 1-3 years in Database Design/Development, including familiarity with SQL Server, MS Access, the SQL query language and basic database administrative tasks.
• 1-3 years in Sharepoint development, use and knowledge of web parts, and basic understanding of Sharepoint Administration
• Nice to have skills include Infopath, API development and web service knowledge
• End-to-end experience throughout the software development life-cycle, including laying out testable requirements, creating test scripts, documenting test results.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document and communicate business requirements and technical designs across all levels of Business and IT, including analysts, management and project stakeholders
• Comfortable working in a small team environment and having high visibility to senior management.
• Proactive mentality is required in the ideal candidate – assessing the situation for what it is, making things happen and rolling with the punches as necessary.
