Calendar View Data Displayed

Is there a way/add-on/web part that will allow the Calendar View to display more than just the *Title field, or allow you to manipulate what is shown on the tool tip?

Bonus question.....

Is there a way to allow the creator of a task to notify the assignee via email that a task has been created? Added Difficulty = A way that does not require any interaction by the assingee. ie creating alerts.

Any info on either of these would be greatly appreciated

Look at Bamboo Solutions Calendar+ Web Part. It has a little bit of javascript to display a tooltip with selected columns (you select) from the event list displaying on hover. Has some issues when running in Safari (IIRC) on the Mac, but I think that's a browser limitation, not a product limitation.

Re: question 2. Yes, but tasks already aupport this functionality OOTB. You can also develop a custom WF using SPD that would handle this very nicely as well (more control over the email output). You can set the To: for the email to the Current Item's Assignee value.
