How do I access the site over the internet?

I am a novice here with WSS.

I installed WSS3.0 standalone on a clean Win2K3 machine with IIS. The installation was successful and after opened up a new empty Sharepoint Team site.

Now what?

What is the next step to set this up as a site that can be accessed from the internet? I assume I need to do something in IIS but am not finding any how to steps anywhere.

In IIS under the new Sharepoint site it just says DEFAULT.

I want to be able to:
1. Access this from the internet by hitting something like team.mydomain.com
2. I want to be able to setup permissions for a couple users to also access this from the internet.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

something like add users to IIS is needed!
If you just want other people be accessible to you site through internet then set anonymous access to it.
