Hey all,
I'm a web developer but brand-spanking-new to SharePoint, picking up a project for a client. Apologies if this is an inanely-stupid question, but does does SharePoint allow custom web pages, or am I limited to the available themes? Basically, can I create a webpage (using SharePoint designer, I assume), that would match something I might create in Dreamweaver, or am I tied to the existing themes?
Again, sorry if this is a stupid question, but ya gotta start somewhere. Thanks for the help!

You can create custom .aspx (default.master) pages using SharePoint Designer. However for custom branding you'll have to edit one of the site themes which is created using cascading style sheets (css). I would recommend looking at Heather Solomon's blog. Her blog has alot of great information around customization and branding. www.heathersolomon.com/blog/PS. For SHAREPOINTCOMMUNITY.COM we applied a site theme which makes the CSS files visible in SharePoint Designer. We then made our modifications to get the look and feel we wanted. All done using SharePoint Designer.
