hi,
we lost our wss databases by a hard disk crash. our system was configured like this: windows server 2003 x86 with sql server 2005 and wss 3.0.
we had an automated job to backup our sharepoint farm. the comand looks like this: stsadm.exe -o backup -directory "G:\wss3" -backupmethod full in addition we have an iis config backup.
i would prefer to set up a new machine restoring iis and wss. is this possible? in alternative we have a system backup from just the system partition. i could rebuild the system and create the same hard disk sturcture. after that i would do the same as in way one.
can anyone tell whats the best way and if it's possible at all to restore the whole farm? i've just found examples and informations about site collection backups and restores with stsadm.
