Group with Alert

I setup a new Group in Sharepoint. I give permission on the folder for that group. I then go to the file in that folder and want to set an Alert for that Group on the file. The alert screen will not locate the new Group I just setup.

I can see the new Group I setup on the left side of the screen. I can open that group and see all the users in that group.

Any ideas?
