Hi,
I am having an issue that is driving me mad!
This issue is only happening on one laptop and thus I would assume it is an issue with IE8 (I have tried upgrading to IE9 to test but still get the issue).
We are using SharePoint 2010 Foundation and in any list we have setup in Datasheet view the user cannot select a ‘Person or Group’ from the relevant fields or any options from ‘Lookup’ fields. The options for these fields do not appear in the drop down as they are meant to and the curser just appears in the field. You can type a drop down value that you know appears in the drop down but it does not except it and throws back a popup error with the heading ‘Windows Internet Explorer’ followed by the message of ‘An error 0xE004043C occurred. No further information was provided’.
When I log onto another computer using the user’s login there is no issue at all. The issue has only started happening in the past week and I cannot see any updates that might have caused this from working.
It is happening on all lists with field types of ‘Person or Group’ and ‘Lookup’. I created a new list to see if that would work and had no luck still.
If I select ‘New Item’ via the ribbon there is no issue and I can select from the relevant fields that are causing the issue via datasheet view.
Please can anyone provide any experience with a similar issue or any ideas on resolving this issue that would be fantastic.
Let me know if you require any more information.
Regards, Greg

We got same issue in our case. This was a misconfiguration of the alternate access mappings also on our side..
