Hi,

We need to build a community site. We are evaluating whether MOSS fits into our requirements or not.

Is there any Out of the box functionality in MOSS 2007 for implementing Groups feature( something very much like yahoo groups)? or do we have to write custom code from scratch?

It really depends on what it is you are trying to accomplish and the requirements behind your plan moving forward. SharePoint is geared at information collaboration in an enterprise or team environment so potentially it could be an option.

I think sharepoint can meet your basic requirement, anyway it is aiming to provide a plant form to collaborate.
