Sharepoint 2007. Windows 7. Office 2007.
Sharepoint is working propelry when in the site in relation to when documents are Read Only or Edit. This post is in regards to using a browser or desktop shortcut to directly open a document. Such a shortcut appears to work differently for Word documents as opposed to Excel documents.
For Word documents I can open the shortcut and I get the standard button at the top allowing me to Edit (Server Document To modify this document click Edit Document.).
Excel does not present this button when launched via the shortcut although the button is there when opened from within Sharepoint via the "Read Only" option. But of course that bypasses the whole utility of having the shortcut.
I am at a loss why it works for Word but not Excel.
Much thanks.
