We have an urgent issue with one of our sharepoint sites - all users including the site collection administrators have only read acess to the site. Even restoring the backup failed because of this. How can we restore rights at least for the administrator? Maybe accessing the SQL Server directly? We don't know how it happened, but to make it even stranger the other web site of the collection has unchanged access rights. Please advise Frank

Update: The issue has been solved, the reason has been that probably due to a failure during backup of the site collection the sitelock has not been reset. Using the stsadm command -o setsitelock -url http://sitecollection -lock none has solved the issue.

The problem has been a failed backup, that is during the backup the site is locked to read-only but it never unlocked again since it stopped.
